          100 Years of St. Bede!

St Bede is celebrating 100 years since it first opened its doors in 1912 as Danemark Elementary School. We have been fortunate to receive funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund to undertake a project to research and celebrate this centenary.

Aspects of the celebratory project include:

  • Centenary procession – click on article below

  • Full arrangement and recording of the school song We are the Children of St Bede

  • Cathedral Service of Thanksgiving, Celebration and Remembrance

  • An oral history project gathering memories of past pupils and staff

  • Collection of photographs

  • Exhibition

  • Workshops for children

  • Visits to Hampshire Record Office to explore archive records about the school
