On Tuesday 19th March, 12 budding athletes headed off to Kings’ School to participate in an indoor athletics tournament against other local schools from Eastleigh and Winchester.
The children participated in a number of different events including; jumping events (standing triple jump, speed bounce and standing long jump); throwing events (javelin, target throw and chest push) and sprint events including 1, 2 and 3 lap sprints.
The children worked really well as a team and encouraged and supported each other throughout the competition. Of particular note was the fantastic support they showed each other when racing in the sprint events, they really enjoyed seeing each other race and testing their speed and agility when changing direction using the slanted boards. It was a pleasure to see the children push themselves to achieve their best times.
We were unable to hear the final results straight after the competition due to the fact that more teams were competing after us. However, after all the results were collected and counted St Bede came 2nd overall. Well done to Jemima, Scarlett, Millie, Rebecca, Beth and Amelie in the girls’ team and Jack, Danny, Joseph, Heath, Albert and Finn in the boys’ team.
Once again, all the children represented the school beautifully and showed courage, determination and teamwork while also showing kindness and friendship.
