Last week in Band 2 and in Year 2, we were very lucky to have a local author named Anne Wan (
http://anne-wan.com/) come in and deliver a workshop to the children. Anne has written a series of books called ‘Secrets of the Snow Globe’ and she talked to the children about where her ideas for her books originated and the process of writing a story from the planning stage to editing. The children were surprised to see how an author plans and edits their work in similar ways to those being taught at school.
After the talk, all the children were inspired to create their own snow globe settings in art and then write their own stories related to the books. We were really proud of how the children listened, asked questions and responded to discussions in the workshop and some children were able to interview the author herself after the talk, asking some fantastic questions related to Anne’s work as an author.
