On Wednesday 20th June, some of our Year 5 children attended a Change 4 Life Leader’s training day. Change4Life is a society-wide movement that aims to prevent people from becoming overweight by encouraging them to eat better and move more. Change4Life has become one of the most instantly recognisable brands in health improvement.
The children participated in lots of exciting activities designed to help them become successful Change 4 Life leaders within the school. They learned how to introduce and teach different and exciting activities, alongside learning about what makes a good leader and a positive Change4life role model at school. Straight away the children got stuck into answering questions confidently and working with children from other schools to complete tasks and design their own activities. The children had the opportunity to think about the positive changes that we could make to become a healthier school, promoting physical activity, emotional well-being and healthy eating.
By the end of the training, all the children were excited and energised about their new roles as Change4Life leaders in the school and have fantastic ideas about what they are going to implement in the new academic year. The children have come up with their own vision statement for the St Bede Change4Life Club: To bring a happy, healthy and inspiring experience to all.
The children are currently working on promotional posters and ideas for the club. They will run an assembly before the end of the year to introduce the club and what they are hoping to offer and achieve next year.
Well done to all the children for their fantastic involvement in the day and being polite, enthusiastic and positive role models. We have plenty of exciting things to come… watch this space…!
