Cross Country News - March 2019

Following a fantastic performance at the Winchester and Eastleigh team trials, Scarlett, Rebecca, Millie, Jacob and Jack all qualified to represent the Winchester and Eastleigh District at the Hampshire Cross Country event in Basingstoke on 7th March.

It was a VERY windy day, with 45mph winds! The girls’ race was at midday with approximately 125 runners. The top 5 year 6s would go through to the next event to compete against year 7s. Scarlett came 9th, Rebecca 14th and Millie 100th, due to being caught up behind a girl who fell badly and hurt her ankle. The boys ran at 12:15, again there were well over 100 runners in the event and ended with Jack coming in 16th and Jacob in 22nd.

It is wonderful to see that our St Bede runners are able to compete at a very high level and get placed among the top runners in Hampshire.

All of them were impeccably behaved as always and represented the school and the district admirably. Thank you very much to Mrs Hutchings who accompanied the children to the event.
