Good luck to our athletics team who are competing on Thursday 21st June at the Hampshire Games. Earlier in the term, our team took part in a level 2 qualifier for the Hampshire School Games. The competition was a group event, meaning each team member was working to achieve as many points as they could for the team. Each child competed in 4 events: the 75m sprint, Long jump, Vortex javelin and 600m.
We were extremely proud of the way the children conducted themselves in each of the events and also the way they supported each other throughout the whole event.
It was a tense wait for the results and we were all very excited to find out where we had come. First, the individual top performances were announced with Tom achieving 2nd place in the boy’s events and Amy clinching 1st place in the girl’s events! The final overall team results were:
3rd Place - South Wonston (1522); 2nd place – St. Francis (1662) and with 1678 points St Bede! We were crowned the winners meaning we had secured a place at the Hampshire School Games.
