On Friday 24th May, our gymnastic team took part in a friendly gymnastics competition against South Wonston Primary school. It was a lovely event where the children were able to compete in different floor and vault exercises in front of judges to win points for our team.
The children were fortunate enough to have the opportunity to practise for the event under the guidance of the South Wonston gymnastics instructor who took the time to come to St Bede to prepare the children for the event. The children then went on to practise their skills and routines at lunch times in the run up to the competition.
One of the highlights of the event was the ‘show case’ where children were able to perform their group routines in front of parents and teachers.
The children really did themselves and the school proud during the afternoon. It was a very close competition and in the end there were just 3 points separating the schools. We did not come away with the win on this occasion but hope to continue to improve and develop skills to enter more competitions in the future.
A special mention goes to Sophia who won a medal for achieving the highest point score overall for St Bede and to Miette and Kezia who won a medal for the highest points scored in the floor skills competition.
Well done to all the children and a big thank you to Mrs Ayling for her help and support during the afternoon.
