On Monday, Emily from Austen class, took part in this year’s Junior Road Safety Officer training course in Southampton. Cllr Humby, from Hampshire County Council, explained to the children that the role of JRSO is to help reduce the number of child casualties on roads in Hampshire by promoting safe travel advice both in schools and their local communities.
Emily took part in a range of road safety activities alongside other children from all over Hampshire and was an excellent ambassador for the school.
Along with Tilly, our Y6 JRSO, Emily will be working with children next half term to help them understand the importance of wearing bright clothes when out and about, especially as the morning and evenings get darker. Here at school we will be holding our own “Your Time to Shine” day on FRIDAY 22nd NOVEMBER.
However, in the meantime, Tilly and Emily would like to remind people to make sure that they are wearing bright and reflective items of clothing if they are planning to be celebrating around 31st October.
This also links to a reminder that as the winter months are fast approaching, we would recommend that ALL children now come to school with a coat. (Half term would be a good time to check that coats from last year still fit and are clearly labelled.)
