On Wednesday 22nd May, the St. Bede Netball team headed to St Swithun’s for the North Eastleigh and Winchester Netball tournament. This tournament was a qualifier for the Hampshire Schools Games.
Having had only one friendly match in the run up to the tournament, the girls were feeling quite nervous but incredibly excited about playing against lots of different schools.
The team, consisting of Jemima, Scarlett, Millie, Evie, Gabriella, Lilla, Freya, Augusta and Eliza, had a really strong start with their first Netball win of the year 3-2 with goals coming from Millie and Lilla.
This really boosted their confidence and lead into another fantastic performance in their second match winning a very impressive 9-1 with a mountain of brilliant goals coming from Scarlett and Jemima who worked incredibly well together in the shooting circle with super support from the rest of the team.
Our two wins saw us head into the semi-final where the girls once again joined together to produce a solid performance; however they were not able to secure another win on this occasion. All the girls should be incredibly proud of their performances and the way they played so well as a team. Some fantastic Netball skills on Show, well done girls! A massive thank you to Mrs Edwards who has been coaching at Netball club and the tournaments and for her continued commitment, encouragement and enthusiasm for the game.
