This week, Year 3 put on their chef hats, took out their mixing bowls and had their very own bake off competition.
The week started with some delicious biscuit tasting where the children had the opportunity to taste test a variety of biscuits that are available from local supermarkets.
Following on from this, the children took part in a trial bake where they tested different flours, fats and sugars before finalising the ingredients they would use in their final bake. On Wednesday, the children baked their final batch of biscuits, created advertising posters and began writing scripts of a radio style advert, which we then recorded.
On Thursday afternoon, the Year 3 parents, grandparents and carers attended our very own bake off. They listened to the children’s adverts, tasted their biscuits and voted for their favourite, mouth-watering snack. The winning team, who will be recreating their biscuit for the summer fair, was The St Bede Bakers with their popular biscuit ‘The Lemon Zinger!’ It has been a fantastic week where the children used many skills and they have all shown our school values. A wonderful afternoon, which we all thoroughly enjoyed.
Well done Year 3!
