Growing Together

Online Safety

E-safety is an integral part of children’s education in today’s digital world and is embedded in their learning at school. We also want to help our parents and children improve their own understanding of e-safety issues so they can learn to use the internet and all digital media in a safe and secure way.

Children are increasingly using computers and mobile devices, and spend a lot of time online; it can be a great way for them to explore the world around them. The Internet is an amazing tool that impacts on our daily life so it is vitally important to us at St. Bede that we educate our children to be aware of both the benefits and dangers online.

It may feel daunting to support your child, but you don’t need to be an expert on the Internet. Understanding what children do online and the risks they face will help you keep your child safe. Here are some tips and useful websites to help with e-Safety for families.

It's important to remember that the legal age to have an account on most social media -

Instagram, Facebook, Youtube, Snapchat - is 13 years old.

Smartphone Free Childhood Campain

Our children's futures are important to us all. We want them to use technology responsibly and safely, but we are seeing increasing numbers of incidents due to misuse, leading to an increased risk to children's safety, well-being and development. Let's give them the time and boundaries they need to grow up safely.

The Smartphone Free Childhood Campaign aims to change the cultural norm that children are given smartphones by growing the national conversation about the harms of smartphones for children, as well as empowering parents and schools to take collective action and create change at a local level. Because childhood is too short to spend on a smartphone.
