Growing Together

Safeguarding

Safeguarding determines the actions that we take to keep children safe and protect them from harm in all aspects of their school life. As a school we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all our pupils.

‘Safeguarding’ is defined in the Children Act 2004 as protecting from maltreatment; preventing impairment of health and development; ensuring that children grow up with the provision of safe and effective care; and work in a way that gives the best life chances and transition to adult hood. Our safeguarding practice applies to every child.

Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs)

At St. Bede Primary School if you have any concerns about safeguarding please speak to any one of these people:

What to do if you have Safeguarding Concerns

If you have concerns about a child, you should report them to our DSL Sarah Duck, or the DDSLs, David Metcalfe and Rebecca Corrigan. If a child makes a disclosure to you that concerns you or indicates potential harm, do not ask questions, make notes as soon as possible, and report the concerns immediately to the Designated Safeguarding Leads.

If you have concerns about a member of staff or an adult, these should be reported to the Headteacher, Sarah Duck.

If you have concerns about the headteacher, these should be reported to the Chair of Governors, Helen Gummerson.
