Growing Together

Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium was introduced by the Department for Education (DfE) in 2011, as additional funding for specific groups of pupils who are vulnerable to possible underachievement.  These include pupils who are entitled to Free School Meals, those Looked After by the Local Authority and children of armed service personnel.  The intended effect of this funding is to accelerate progress, raise attainment and support pupils in the participation of activities in the wider curriculum.

The Pupil Premium is allocated to schools to decide how the additional funding should be spent, since they are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for the individual pupils within their responsibility.

Pupil Premium at St Bede CE Primary School

At St Bede CE Primary School, all children are valued equally and they all have the right to access high quality education.  We believe in ‘Achievement by All’ and have always strived to ensure that all children make good progress.  Spending is targeted to ensure that we enable identified children to make good academic progress.  We also recognise that children learn better and are happier in school when their emotional needs are addressed, therefore we invest in supporting our children’s well-being.
