Growing Together

Home School Agreement

At St. Bede, our Home School Agreement outlines our expectations as a school, and is to be signed by the pupil, a representative from the school, and the parent.

The Child

Parents are asked to talk this through with their child and where appropriate their child can sign their name.

I will endeavour to:

  • Be on time for school every day with the appropriate equipment and clothing.
  • Be polite, thoughtful and helpful to others.
  • Respect and care for all property and the school environment.
  • Listen to instructions from adults at the school and follow the school’s rules of being safe, ready and respectful.
  • Uphold the school’s values of love, peace, courage, trust and friendship.
  • Do all my work in class and at home as well as I can and ask for help when I need it.
  • Be friendly and caring towards other children and adults.

The School

Staff will endeavour to:

  • Get to know each child as an individual and meet their needs effectively. We will monitor the progress of children and provide advice and guidance to support their work.
  • Ensure that while in our care the safety and welfare of each child is paramount.
  • Aim to create a positive, caring atmosphere in which each child feels secure and valued, promoting and exploring our school rules and values as outlined in the staff code of conduct.
  • Work in partnership with parents/carers to encourage positive attitudes and high standards of behaviour; to follow our school rules and uphold the values of the school.
  • Provide a broad, balanced and differentiated curriculum through which each child may fully develop intellectually, socially, emotionally, morally and spiritually.
  • Maintain regular and effective communications with parents/carers on all aspects of school life. Inviting parents to events that celebrate children’s successes and achievements.
  • Set home learning in accordance with our home learning policy

The Parent/Carer

I/we will endeavour to:

  • To ensure that my child attends school regularly arriving and being collected punctually. (Attendance at school is a legal requirement and linked with good progress in children’s learning.) I/we will notify the school of the reason for any absence by the start of the first day my child(ren) is/are away.
  • To provide the necessary equipment and contact the school for support if I have difficulties in doing so.
  • To make the school aware of anything that might affect my child’s behaviour or work.
  • To support the school’s rules and values and their policies and guidelines for behaviour. Including modelling these values and treating all members of the school community with care and respect as outlined in the code of conduct for parents and visitors found on our website (Key Information - School Policies).
  • To check and be involved with my child’s home learning and encourage them to try their best.
  • To read school/home communications at least weekly and respond as necessary.
  • To attend parents’ evenings and information sessions whenever possible.
