Growing Together

October is Black History Month

This year’s theme for Black History Month is ‘reclaiming narratives’. Alongside our planned activities for inside the classroom, we are also hoping to meet with some of our parents from minority backgrounds at a coffee morning on Friday 18th October (after drop off) to find out more about how families feel they could be better represented and supported at school. If you would be interested in joining us, it would be really helpful to know of any resources you have seen or used in your own families to promote diversity and inclusion.

We are proud to say that everyone is welcome at St Bede and would love to learn more about the diverse backgrounds and experiences of the families across our community to inform how we move forward as a school in this area. This year, one of our strategic priorities is linked to our school rule to ‘be respectful’ and will include that we further refine policies, planning, teaching and learning to consider and address diversity and inclusion resulting in respectful behaviours and attitudes. We hope that you can agree that this is an important area for us to explore and address.
