Calshot Residential April 2026 - Year 5

Calshot Residential – Day 2 Update

What a fantastic second day our Year 5 pupils have enjoyed at Calshot!  The sunshine and sea breeze set the perfect scene for a day packed with adventure, teamwork and plenty of smiles.  Today’s highlights included sailing and kayaking, with children showing great enthusiasm as they learned new skills out on the water.  For many, it was their first time trying these activities — and they rose to the challenge brilliantly.

One of the most striking parts of the day has been the way the children have supported one another.  Whether helping a friend steady their kayak, offering encouragement before stepping onto a boat, or celebrating each other’s successes, they have truly embodied the St. Bede values of love, peace, courage trust and friendship.

Staff have been incredibly proud to see these values lived out so naturally.  Groups have worked cooperatively, listened carefully to instructors, and shown real resilience when tasks felt tricky.  Their positivity and willingness to look after one another have made the day not only successful, but genuinely heart‑warming.

As we look ahead to tomorrow’s adventures, we’re delighted with how confidently and joyfully the children are embracing every opportunity.  They are representing St. Bede beautifully - growing together, learning together, and making memories that will last long after the trip ends.

Calshot Day 2

Day 1 at Calshot burst into life for our Year 5 pupils, who threw themselves into every challenge with energy, courage and huge smiles.  From the moment they arrived, the excitement was unmistakable, and the day quickly became a celebration of teamwork, bravery and unforgettable achievements.

🌟 Highlights from an action‑packed first day

  • Skiing success — Many pupils took their very first glide down the slope, learning to balance, steer and stop with growing confidence. By the end of the session, the smiles from the children said it all: they were proud of themselves, and rightly so.

  • Low ropes teamwork — The low ropes course brought out brilliant cooperation.  Pupils encouraged one another, shared strategies and discovered just how much they could achieve when they worked together.

  • High ropes bravery — The high ropes challenge pushed everyone to new heights - literally.  Whether they climbed a little or a lot, every pupil showed determination and courage.

  • The legendary team swing — Pupils soared through the air on the team swing. The mix of nerves, excitement and pure joy made it a fantastic activity.

🎉 A brilliant start

The children represented the school beautifully, showing resilience, kindness and a willingness to try new things. Day 1 has set the tone for what promises to be an incredible adventure, and the staff couldn’t be prouder of how Year 5 have embraced every moment.
